HR Meet Trainers #3 – Communication in Diverse Teams

Meeet-Mitte, Wednesday, 12th of  December 2017, 6:30 PM

Communication in Diverse Teams

In this event series we put in touch HR / talent managers and trainers, and showcase different ways of building skills. This time, the focus will be on diversity in teams, and on how to enable better communication in diverse groups of people.

In this workshop we will look at how two experienced trainers work with diverse teams to enable better teamwork and perspective-taking, and we will get a sample of the work they do.

Different teams have different needs, just like different trainers use different techniques. There isn’t always a match between a company and a trainer: it’s frustrating and wasteful, and we don’t like that.

All it takes is for hr managers / talent mangers and trainers to start talking, to see what the other one needs and find a meeting point – and the best way to do so is to have trainers show what they do and share some of their knowledge and to have talent managers listen and see what works for their team.

 Who are the trainers?

Olla Shimbereva

Olla was born in Moscow, grew up in New Zealand, studied in Spain and Germany and worked in South Korea, France, Thailand, Australia and is currently residing in Berlin.

In 2014 she was selected from more than 3000 people from all over the world to represent New Zealand at the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations in Bali, where she met the former Secretary-General Ban-ki-Moon and drafted a resolution designed to promote unity in diversity.

She speaks four languages ( English, Russian, German, Spanish), has visited 45 countries and has a rich experience in working with startups, C-level managers and government institutions.

Her bicultural upbringing, business background, multilingual skills and curiosity for cross-cultural communication led her to undertake research and develop intercultural trainings for business executives, expatriates, exchange students and multicultural couples.

As a proud Kiwi/Russian she understands the challenges individuals and companies may face when moving to a new country or conducting business with foreign partners.  She regularly speaks at international conferences and universities in Germany, Netherlands, Egypt and Russia, supports integration process in refugee camps in Berlin and writes articles on the topic. Her clients commend her for her passion, ability to listen and solve some of the biggest emotional obstacles and unacceptable one may face when working internationally.
